Boozy Cherry Slushies

share this:

I have this habit of buying too much seasonal produce. Maybe it’s that I love a good value, or maybe I’m just overly excited/nostalgic for fresh seasonal fruit? Honestly, I think it’s just that I forget that I’m not supposed to go grocery shopping when I’m hungry.

Tale as old as time….

When I end up overbuying things like cherries, I use some of what I have to make syrups for cocktails. You have no idea how many mason jars I have in my fridge…It seriously looks like a science fair in there. Sorry, Casey! Today we have cherry syrup and it’s going to be one of the main ingredients in this Boozy Cherry Slushy recipe.

The other main ingredient is one of my favorite vodkas– Hangar 1 Straight Vodka. This vodka has a slightly perfumey taste which lends itself well to the combination of cherry and lime.

Who needs artificial red food coloring and over sweet slushies when we can have Boozy Cherry Slushies made with homemade cherry syrup, cherry juice, ginger ale, lime and Hangar 1 Straight Vodka.?!! My summer will be filled with these.

And we’re off!

First we make the cherry syrup. Sugar, water, cherries (sans pits).

I added a few lime peels and a good squeeze of lime juice for balance.

Cooked down!

Let’s strain.

We still have more straining to do.

Yesssssss.

Hello beautiful. There are so many cocktails in my future with YOU!

It tastes like cherry pie…but like…without the crust. You know?

Ok let’s round up our slushy ingredients.

Into a blender we put ice, cherry juice, cherry syrup, lime juice and ginger ale.

Top it off with our Hangar 1 Straight Vodka.

Blended!!

Topped with cherries & straws.

Cheers to cherry season!

This post produced in partnership with Hangar 1 Vodka. As always, opinions are my own.
